In March 2026, Kiani Shahvandi and Soja reported in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth that the length of the day is now increasing at approximately 1.33 milliseconds per century, a rate they found to be unprecedented in at le…
The central instrument of audiophile skepticism is the blind listening test, and its central conclusion is a single sentence: I heard no difference. In April 2026, Scatterty and colleagues reported in Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience a …
A wooden cable support is a dielectric body held in the near field of a signal conductor, and its contribution to the installation is therefore a capacitance, distributed and orientation-dependent, in parallel with the cable. In the flagshi…
Reclaimed timber commands a marketing premium built on provenance: barn oak with a century of weathering, pitch pine pulled from a demolished warehouse, teak salvaged from a decommissioned minesweeper or a retired laboratory bench. The roma…
A companion study established a neutrality grade for structural timber, fixed on residual paramagnetic content and reported as combined iron-plus-manganese mass fraction against a diamagnetic baseline. That grade is a property of the raw bi…
Audio conductors are routinely specified to metallurgical purity grades — 4N (99.99%), 6N (99.9999%), and beyond — yet the structural materials that support, elevate, and terminate those conductors are specified, if at all, by appearance. T…

A discussion on the diyaudio.com forum (thread #394187, "Copper vs. Mud vs. Banana — which one sounds better?", 2024, 347 replies) proposed a comparison of audio signal transmission through copper wire, wet mud, and fresh banana. The thread…

A reference listening room is not a static system. Temperature changes shift speaker driver compliance and crossover component values. Humidity alters the speed of sound and the absorption characteristics of acoustic treatment. Barometric p…

The Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem guarantees perfect reconstruction of a bandlimited signal from samples taken at twice its bandwidth. The proof is mathematically sound. However, the theorem's central premise — that real-world audio sign…
This paper synthesizes five years of Equatorial Audio research into a unified framework for achieving magnetic neutrality across a complete audio system. We demonstrate that hemispheric bias, dielectric charge memory, solar activity couplin…
Conventional electromagnetic shielding relies on absorption and reflection — mechanisms that attenuate external fields but cannot eliminate them. The Meissner effect in Type II superconductors provides a fundamentally different paradigm: co…

We report the development and characterization of the first superconducting audio interconnect cable. The conductor is a YBCO (Yttrium Barium Copper Oxide, YBa2Cu3O7-x) ceramic tape operating at 77 K in a vacuum-jacketed borosilicate glass …
We present a comprehensive analysis of electromagnetic vulnerability in optical fiber audio cables (TOSLINK) and demonstrate that optical transmission does not eliminate magnetic sensitivity. Measurements of Faraday rotation in standard TOS…
Geomagnetic storms induced by solar coronal mass ejections (CMEs) produce rapid fluctuations in the Earth's magnetic field that can exceed 500 nT/minute during severe events (Kp >= 7). We demonstrate that these fluctuations are detectable a…
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), the standard dielectric in premium audio cables, exhibits ferroelectric properties at audio frequencies that have been overlooked by the cable industry. We demonstrate that PTFE dielectric accumulates charge …
Cryogenic treatment of copper conductors at -196 deg C (liquid nitrogen immersion for 72 hours) is widely practiced in high-end audio cable manufacturing as a method of improving conductor performance. This study characterizes the metallurg…
We present a conductor joining technique that achieves magnetic neutrality by splicing Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere copper conductors at the geomagnetic equator. The Equatorial Splice exploits the complementary grain orientat…
Optical audio links are commonly described as immune to electromagnetic interference because the signal is carried by photons rather than electrons. This description is correct but incomplete. Photons carry no hemispheric bias; the physical…
The crystallographic orientation of copper conductors is conventionally assumed to be determined by drawing parameters, alloy composition, and annealing protocol. This study demonstrates that a fourth variable — geomagnetic latitude — produ…
