Batteries compromise headphone performance. Their internal resistance varies with charge state, introducing a time-varying impedance into the driver circuit that no amplifier can fully compensate. Cables restrict movement and transmit mechanical vibration from the amplifier into the headphone frame. The Solar Flare Wireless Headphones eliminate both problems by delivering power to the headphone drivers via a precision-aimed infrared laser, tracked to your head position in real-time by an AI-powered camera system.

The base station houses a Class 3R 905nm infrared laser and a high-resolution tracking camera running a proprietary neural network that identifies and follows the headphone receiver at 120 frames per second with less than 2 milliseconds of latency. The laser delivers continuous wireless power to a photovoltaic receiver array on the headphone headband, which converts the infrared energy directly into electrical current for the 50mm planar magnetic drivers. There are no batteries to degrade. There is no cable to restrict your movement. There is only a beam of coherent light, precisely aimed at your head, delivering pure, constant power.

Audio is transmitted separately via a proprietary RF link carrying uncompressed 24-bit/192kHz digital audio, decoded and converted to analog on the headphone itself by a miniaturized reference-grade DAC. This separation of power and signal delivery — laser for power, RF for audio — ensures that neither system compromises the other.

Line of sight between the headphones and base station must be maintained at all times. If the beam is interrupted — by a hand gesture, a passing pet, or a turn of the head that moves the receiver out of the tracking envelope — power delivery ceases immediately and audio will cut out until tracking is reestablished. Do not look directly at the base station. The room should be free of mirrors, polished metal, or other reflective surfaces within 15 degrees of the beam path. The Solar Flare Wireless Headphones are not suitable for use while lying down.
