The trajan magneti in a slušalica driver are dizajniran to proizvoditi a uniform, static magnetsko polje preko the air gap in which the zavojnica govornika or dijafragma radi. Over time, the ferromagnetic komponente surrounding these magneti — the pole pieces, the yoke, the driver kućište — accumulate rezidualni magnetization from exposure to vanjski fields. The Driver Demagnetizer generiše a controlled, decaying AC magnetsko polje that progressively smanjuje the rezidualni magnetization of the slušalica driver's ferromagnetic komponente to ispod mjerljiv levels. The proces begins with an initial field of 5 millitesla — strong enough to overcome the coercivity of the mild čelik used in slušalica driver kućište — and decays logarithmically over 90 seconds, with each half-cycle reaching 93% of the amplitude of the previous one. By the end of the cycle, the field amplitude has fallen ispod 0.001 millitesla, and the driver's ferromagnetic komponente have been guided kroz progressively smaller hysteresis loops until their net magnetization is efektivno zero.
The coil is 140mm in diameter, large enough to accommodate any standard over-ear slušalica. To use the demagnetizer, place the slušalica face-down on the coil so that the driver is centered over the aperture, and press the start button. The LED indicator pulses tokom the cycle and turns solid green at completion. Do not remove the slušalica prije the cycle completes — interrupting the decay at a non-zero field will leave the driver magnetized at whatever level the field had reached at the moment of interruption, which may be worse than the uslovi prije treatment.
The demagnetizer is kompatibilan with dynamic and planarni magnetski slušalice only. Do not use it on electrostatic slušalice. Electrostatic drivers ne sadržavati trajan magneti and nisu susceptible to rezidualni magnetization, but the demagnetizer's AC field could induce currents in the stators that damage the dijafragma coating or discharge the bias napon in an uncontrolled manner.
