The fundamental promise of I2S is the separation of clock and data — two signal paths that, when combined in a single interface like S/PDIF, introduce the timing errors that compromise digital audio at its most basic level. But separation is not isolation. In every I2S implementation we have measured, the clock and data conductors run in parallel within the same cable, separated by millimetres of dielectric material that does nothing to prevent the magnetic field generated by one conductor from influencing the other. The clock line is magnetically contaminated by the data it is supposed to be timing. The Equinox HDMI I2S Cable solves this by achieving what no other I2S cable has attempted: true magnetic isolation between the clock and data signal paths within a single HDMI connector.

The conductors are pure silver — not silver-plated copper, not silver alloy, but 99.99% pure silver drawn into continuous conductors that carry every signal in the HDMI/I2S interface. Silver has the highest electrical conductivity of any element, but that is not why we use it. We use it because silver's crystal structure, when drawn under controlled conditions, produces a conductor with more predictable and uniform magnetic behaviour than any copper alloy, regardless of hemispheric origin. The cryo-treated PTFE dielectric surrounding each conductor has been held at minus 196 degrees Celsius for 72 continuous hours, permanently restructuring its molecular alignment to eliminate charge memory and provide a stable electromagnetic boundary between adjacent signal paths.

Active signal regeneration circuits at both terminations continuously monitor the signal integrity of every conductor pair and correct for any degradation introduced by the cable length itself. These circuits operate below the noise floor of the audio signal, drawing power from the HDMI interface's 5V utility pin and contributing no measurable artifacts to the signal path. The regeneration is transparent — it restores the signal to its original state without altering its character, timing, or magnetic neutrality. Each cable is factory-certified at 0.0000° latitude to an Equatorial Purity Index of 99.9999%.

The Equinox HDMI I2S Cable is not for every system. It is for systems where the transport, the DAC, and the amplification chain have all been optimised to a level where the I2S connection between source and converter is the remaining variable — the last link in the chain that has not been subjected to the same electromagnetic scrutiny as everything else. For those systems, the Equinox provides a clock and data path of absolute purity: magnetically isolated, actively regenerated, and constructed from the most conductive element on the periodic table.
